Due to popular demand, we have created a fantastic ride through Provence for the leisure or active cyclist, with one of the trip nights in a 5 Star hotel. If you are someone who wants a balance between great cycling, variable ride length, as well as an overnight stay in the most outstanding hotel in the region, keep reading, then send us a deposit.
The average daily distances are around 50 kms per day leaving plenty of time for nice lunches and scenic stops. You can arrive at the hotel with ample time to enjoy the pool, have a massage or just relax. If there are some in your group that would like to ride more, we have other loop rides that take place in the afternoon after the group has arrived at the hotel. We can turn this trip into a shorter four day or six or seven day adventure, and we can adjust this trip so that you have more nights in the Coquillade if desired.
Ride Difficulty: The Provence Luxury week can generally be described as easy to moderate and the optional ride extensions can make it a little tougher in distance and climbing. There is one flat-ish day, while all the rest have some rolling hills. This is definitely not Iowa, Holland or Manitoba. Fully Van supported.
Day 1: Meet your guides at the Avignon TGV station (or at your hotel) at 11h00 for your 30 minute transfer to the amazing Bastide de Voulonne (two nights) in Cabrières d’Avignon. We will have a bike fitting and safety session, then we are off to the Fountain de Vaucluse and L’Isle sur la Sorgue, aka the "Venice of Provence." 30 kms ++
Day 2: Beautiful loop ride to the villages of Goult and Gordes. These are the two "must see’s” today. Huge ride extension available also for those of you wanting some hills up towards Murs and the Plateau de Vaucluse and two of the nicest gorges. One was recently repaved for the Tour. Yes, that tour. 40 - 100 kms
Day 3: We change hotels today and ride to colourful Roussillon (and Lacoste - optional). One of today’s highlights is arriving at the region’s best hotel. The 5 Star Coquillade. We have one night here and a gourmet meal in the best of their three restaurants. You will be rewarded with an early arrival at the Coquillade, a large spa, swimming pool, tasting cellars and all of this nestled in 90 acres of private vineyards. The real kicker here is that the hotel is also a BMC Bike test centre. You may like this. 30 - 75 kms
Day 4: Up and into the "Luberon Naturel Parc" via Lacoste and Bonnieux. We take one of the most scenic and easy climbs of the week that gets us near to the top of the ridge. Options for a straight shot to the hotel pool or more rolling, traffic free roads. The day ends with a stunning gorge and a 10 k downhill. We are in Lourmarin for the next three nights at a great hotel with a pool and a spa. 30 - 70 kms
Day 5: Short or long loop rides. Flat or hilly. Today we are pedalling around the “Route des Chateaux du Sud Luberon.” Wait until you see our favourite village at lunch! Options include a ride to a lake for a swim if the weather is hot or you could just sit in the sun pool-side. 0 - 100kms
Day 6: Departure day, sorry. One of the best Provençal markets takes place today just metres from your hotel.
Trips that end today have a group transfer to Aix en Provence or Marseille airport at noon.
Otherwise you get another beautiful Lourmarin loop ride after the market for those groups that have added another night to this fantastic trip.
Optional 7th day - If you have chosen to ride and extra day with TTT we have a superb ride to Aix en Provence. Three little bumps to pedal up and over, then a superb downhill all the way to your hotel in Aix. It's amazing how the landscape changes on today's ride. Say goodbye to your two-wheeled aluminium (or Carbon) friend in Aix and sip a cool crisp rosé in the center of town with about 10,000 students doing the same. Upon your arrival in Aix, your Tour de Provence with TTT c'est fini. 38 -70kms
